KEW is the brainchild of Swansea University’s business innovation expert, Ceri Jones.
Originally looking at the Global Connect model that started in San Diego, where a group of business leaders and champions with research and development interests realised that in order to compete globally they would have to collaborate locally, Ceri realised that this was a valuable way for a Welsh business network to progress.
Taking into account the differences between Wales and the San Diego model, Ceri recognised that a university-led business network would be the best way forward for Wales, and went on to enlist the help of Bangor University’s Research and Innovation Office; one which he valued for their skills and expertise, as well as allowing the network to span the whole of the country.
By combining expertise in North and South Wales, as well as offering their individual and shared skills to businesses, both Swansea University and Bangor University are excited to offer a comprehensive network that will offer national and global opportunities to those businesses involved.
